ABOUT
SYWater.org and Steven Yochum, PE
SYWater.org has been constructed to provide helpful web links for hydrologic professionals and students.  Additionally, the
site was created to share reports and tools developed by Steven Yochum with interested parties.

Steve is a hydrologist who has specialized in analyzing such things as potential impacts of dam failures, for hazard
classification and emergency action plan development; flood studies, primarily for rural communities and smaller urbanized
areas; the use of LiDAR data in hydrologic analyses; water quality studies, including assessing the impacts of agricultural
irrigation practices on river salinity, assessing legacy mining impacts, as well as monitoring nutrient flux into the Chesapeake
Bay; and assessments of stream morphological condition and stream enhancement or restoration alternatives in
mining-impacted, agricultural and urban areas.

Currently, Steve is working on his PhD in Civil Engineering at the Colorado State University, specializing in stream restoration.
For his dissertation, he is researching the roughness of mountain streams.  He also works for the USDA Natural Resources
Conservation Service, as the hydrologist for the Rocky Mountain Engineering Team.
In the East, to "waste" water is to consume it needlessly or excessively. In the West, to waste water is not to consume it.
